Student Authentication
Verifying Online Users
The Scenario
With statistics showing that over 22 million students will take at least one online course a semester by 2014, the biggest challenge facing academia is ensuring that the proper student is taking their assignments.
Concerns
Currently, most student authentication solutions involve signing in with a username and password, which is sent via email. This information can be easily transferred to another person, allowing a student to complete an assignment or even a semester without doing much of anything.
Some academic institutions have tried to combat cheating and authenticating students by testing their knowledge. The goal is to ensure the correct student is participating in the course and gauge if they know the material.
We applaud these efforts, but the solutions fall short to fully authenticate students. At least in our opinion.
The Solution
Unquestionable verification.
Not only can you tell when, where and how someone signed their name, but what they look like, to create a visual audit trail.
Since Didoline is API-enabled, integrating our sigObject™ into your workflow is easy and completely customizable. Didoline can even be integrated with your current online education technology, while remaining on your platform.
The first phase to authenticate students is leveraging Didoline's collection of meta data associated to each unique transaction:
Finally, use Didoline's completed sigObject™ to create a visual audit to ensure the same student has been participating in their assigned tasks and assignments.
